Keeping Tabs…On Myself

I have mixed emotions while writing this article. Mostly because I hate failing & I feel like I might be failing…like not totally failing, but definitely struggling! But what kind of person would I be if I only shared my successes with you?

If you’ve been following along for a couple of months, then you might be familiar with my new method of sticking to my New Year’s Resolutions. If you’re just joining us now, you can catch up here. But basically, I’m adopting a new method for achieving my New Year’s Resolutions.

So to be INCREDIBLY transparent here are all of the ways I’m failing at keeping my resolutions & how I plan to turn things around!

1st Fail

I’m supposed to be looking at my goals weekly. EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK. I am most definitely not looking at them weekly. Whoops!

Pivot

I know why I’m not looking at them as often as I should be. It’s because I wrote them in a journal that I have tucked away in a stack of other journals, books & random notebooks. Not in the most convenient of places. Instead – I’m going to jot them down on a sticky note & put it on the mirror where I get ready. I’ll be forced to look at them legit every morning!

2nd Fail

Paying off debt is so much harder than I initially thought. I had a perfectly laid out plan of how we were going to achieve it, but what I didn’t account for is…life. While we’ve made a significant dent in our credit card debt, we are not quite where we want to be. Our initial goal was to have paid off $1,695 by the end of March. As of today, we’re coming in $210.76 shy of that goal.

Pivot

Instead of beating myself up about not meeting my goals EXACTLY as planned, I’m going to give myself some grace. I’m a human & I don’t do things perfectly. That’s not to say that I’m going to slack off when it comes to paying off our debt, because that is still a huge goal for Jordan and me. I’m going to continue plugging away & counting down the days until we get our tax refund so I can make a REALLY big dent!

But great news, guys! While I’ve stumbled & struggled in a few areas, I’ve SERIOUSLY thrived in one of my other goals!

1st Win

At the beginning of this year, I set out to read 12 books. So far I’ve read 4 & am pages away from finishing my 5th! It feels so good to be crushing this goal because it was a pretty big, hairy, scary one for me! While I love to read, I’ve always struggled to make time for it. But now that Jordan and I are both dead set on meeting this goal, it’s easier for us to turn off Netflix & crack open a book.

Also, it’s probably worth pointing out that Jordan is seriously kicking my butt…not that this is a competition or anything, but I’m pretty sure he’s already read like 8 books this year. I’m 50% annoyed & 50% proud of him…or maybe like 70/30. Next Book: Capital Gaines by Chip Gaines — one-half of one of my favorite celebrity couples!

2nd Win

If you follow me on Insta or Facebook (which you totally should), you know I just shared something incredibly embarrassing & private with the whole world (or at least those of you that follow me.) Weight has ALWAYS been something I’ve struggled with. My goal for 2019 was to lose 15 lbs before Jordan and I decided to hopefully (fingers crossed) get pregnant with our second kiddo! I’m THREE freaking lbs away from that goal. In total, I’ve lost 25 lbs, since the beginning of December 2018 & it feels SO. DAMN. GOOD. I plan to far surpass this goal! If you want to chat more about how I’ve lost the weight & plan to keep it off – shoot me a note, I’d love to chat!

I know this may not be the most EXCITING article I’ve shared with ya’ll, but I feel like it’s one of the most transparent. And who knows…maybe next time we do another New Year’s Resolution check-in, I’ll have more wins than fails!

Thanks for stopping by, friends!
