March Happy Hour

Monthly Happy Hour is baaaacccckk!!! I feel like I need a good jingle for this… and I’m not sure if this is coincidence but just as I was typing that, this song started playing on Spotify…sooooo there’s that!

I might just have to add another section to this Happy Hour that is wholly devoted to jams from way back when…and I know JUST who I’ll recruit to help with this. Hint: her name is Brooke Claxton & she runs the Pop Culture Friday account on Insta that you absolutely HAVE to be follow. She’s a freaking riot!

But let’s kick off this happy hour!!

Wine….errr rather Cocktail

I’m switching things up tonight for a couple of reasons! 1- I don’t have any wine in the house & 2- the weather here in NE has FINALLY started to warm up a bit & it has me itching for fruity cocktails! I followed no specific recipe, but basically I used the Black Raspberry flavored Sparkling ICE, a dash of vodka & lime juice & blended ‘er up! The only thing this cutie is missing is a drink umbrella & beach.

Book

This past month, I read an AMAZZZING book! If you’re a mom or know a mom, do yourself (or them) a favor & pick up a copy of this; Raising Grateful Kids in an Entitled World by Kristen Welch. Basically, every page has so many great golden nuggets of truth! She talks about teaching kids self control, which is so huge, because as much as I want to protect Quincy from everything that might harm her or be bad for her, I just can’t. And I shouldn’t. Girlfriend will learn her lessons the hard way, just like I did & just like her dad did. However, I do want to EQUIP her with the tools she needs so she can make smart decisions all on her own. Here’s an excerpt that really struck home with me,

“Winning” a fight with our kids only makes two losers. We have the opportunity to patiently walk with them through their pain and try to understand the root of their attitude or negative behavior.”

Mind. Blown. Her perspective on raising kids is so honest & true & I love that she shares her own struggles – it makes her so much more relatable. It’s also on Amazon Prime, so you have no excuse to NOT be reading this within the next 2 days.

Popcorn & PJs

This is by no means a new movie, I actually saw this in theater months ago when it came out, but Jordan and I just rented it on Prime Video the other night & it was even better than I remember. It also doesn’t hurt that it has my beloved Marky Mark in it (swooon)! Instant Family is such a cute movie – it’s got humor, it’s got the world’s cutest duo Mark Wahlberg & Rose Byrne & it’s got real freaking parenthood moments. Jordan can be a pretty tough movie critic but spoiler alert, he said so himself, he was fighting back tears at one point! Definitely worth checking this one out! Bonus points: based on a true story!

Cocktail Update

I used too much ice in the first round. I might need a spoon to finish it. Second round will be less ice & more of the good stuff.

Eye Candy

Who doesn’t love a great pair of yoga pants, so I thought I’d give them a try. I ordered a sports bra from them & dare I say…this is hands down the BEST sports bra I’ve ever owned?! Through every wash & every wear, the shape & fit haven’t been compromised. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the cut out in the back, but I actually kind of love it! I think it allows for more flexibility.

Even cooler – a portion of your purchase with be donated to a charity of your choosing! When you select your item of clothing, you get to choose which charity to donate to; mental health, clean water, sex trafficking in youth & hunger. I haven’t heard of this concept in another athletic wear brand, so it really attracted me to them. I can’t wait to purchase my next item from them – I’m thinking maybe this, or these?

While I hate to say it…our time together has come to an end. It’s getting late, my husband can’t seem to choose a movie to watch & I need to make my bed so I’m not sleeping on a naked mattress tonight. What do you guys want to see me try in April? Do you have a good book or recipe, or new movie or TV series I should binge? Let me know – I’d love to hear from you guys – just drop a note in the comments below!

Thanks for stopping by, friends!
