Mom Like Me: Christina Groteluschen

I first met Christina WAY back in 2009 in Texas & I remember immediately being drawn to her bubbly personality! She sweetly befriended me & it was as if we’d known each other for so long. Wouldn’t you know it – we both moved back to Omaha & had girls within a few months of each other. And holy moly – her daughter, Vivian, is one of THEEE cutest little things I’ve ever seen! Other the past year and a half we’ve shared many-a-messages about the whoas of motherhood! It’s been such a relief to know that my daughter wasn’t the ONLY one who wouldn’t sleep longer than 30 minutes at a time…

What does it mean to you to be a mom?
Mostly being a support system and teacher!

What is your favorite part of motherhood?
I’ve always been drawn to kids and especially my nieces, but I had no idea how different the love would feel having my own child. Everything is my favorite part. She really is my baby bestie.

What have you found to be the hardest part of motherhood? Or least favorite part of motherhood?
Poop. You know what I’m sayin’! So much more poop than anticipated.

If you could compare motherhood to one thing, what would it be?
Jurassic Park! Too soon?

In the spirit of encouraging & celebrating each other – what is one piece of advice you would give to a new mom?
The newborn stage will pass. God bless it, that was not my season. I remember so clearly feeling like my body was destroyed forever and this itty tiny baby that I loved so desperately was impossible to understand. I felt like her little cries always meant I was doing something wrong. But now in retrospect, that stage feels like a million years ago, and like it only lasted a second.

What is the WEIRDEST thing you’ve done as a mom?
I once let her eat an entire container of mini M&Ms just so I could watch The Bachelor. Why is that weird? It’s weird because I’m not embarrassed. Mostly proud that I thought of it.

Based on your children’s personality at this very moment, what would their high school superlative be?
Social Sally. Vivi missed the stranger danger gene. She loves everyone.

If you had an afternoon to yourself, what would we find you doing?
Getting my nails done, maybe shopping, for sure drinking a coffee. Or wait, napping. Maybe I’d just sleep.

On a scale of 1 to the center of the sun, how hot do you like your shower water?
If I don’t have first degree burns did it even count?

What is your biggest pet peeve?
PEOPLE WHO WILL NOT STOP TALKING. Read the room, BRENDA. No one cares.

I love Christina’s easy going & sarcastic take on parenting, because if you aren’t laughing at yourself…are you even doing it right? Even though our friendship is based solely on social media & DMing over Facebook & Instagram…one of these days we will get our girls together to hang out & I’m confident that once we do…they’ll be inseparable. Or at least Christina & I will be…but I’ll chalk that up as a win either way 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, friends!
